Hey everyone! Today we were on set styling a Topshop prom inspired shoot. The shoot involved us styling hair and makeup that would promote Topshop yet be suitable from prom. The hairstyles vary from up dos, formal buns and wavy hair. Step by step tutorial videos will be available online on our Kohl Face Youtube channel soon!

First look
What you'll need
- Synthetic hair bow (match colour to hair)
- Comb
- Hairspray
- Heat protecting spray
- Hair straightenenrs
- Hair gel
1. I started with separating the model hair into two separate sections. By doing this, it made it easier to comb through the hair.
2. I took the heat protecting spray and sprayed it around any areas of the hair I was going to apply heat to.
3. I then took a comb and started lightly combing the hair back into a pony tail.
4. My third step was applying gel and hairspray to the top and sides of the hair.
5. I continued combing the hair back until the hair was slicked back tight enough. I wanted a very sleek and neat look, it took me couple of tried but after continuing to comb it back, it eventually stayed the way I wanted it to!
6. I used an elastic band to tie the hair with. I then took a piece of the hair and proceeded to wrap it around the hair band until it was hidden. To hold the hair into place I used hair grips and hairspray.
7. The final step, to give the hair a pretty finish, I took the prosthetic bow and lightly clipped it directly on top of the ponytail until it felt secure.
8. I applied hairspray to finish off the look and, your done!
Second look
What you'll need
- Hair donut
- Hair comb
- Hair grips (a lot!)
- Hair brush
- Hair gel
- Hairspray
- Hair/Head piece (optional)
- Hair bands
1. Firstly, I brushed then combed through the models hair. I wanted a similar sleeked back look like the first shoot, so needed to make sure the hair had no knots.
2. After combing back the hair a few times, I applied hair gel and hairspray before tying it back into a sleek ponytail. The hair donut was then applied over the ponytail.
3. Now heres the complicated bit! I took each bits of hair into separate sections, wrapped it around the hair donut and used hair grips to hold the hair into place. To make the hair stay, I also applied a light layer of hairspray.
4. After clipping each bit of hair until it was secure, I took the excess hair and wrapped it around where the hair grips are shown. I done this so none of them could be seen.
5. To finish the hair off, I used a leaf gold hair piece and wrapped it around the hair bun.
Third look
What you'll need
- Heat protecting spray
- Heated hair wavers
- Hairspray
- Hair grips
1. First, I brushed then combed through the models hair as I wanted a neat, wavy and effortless style.
2. I then took my heat protecting spray and applied it to all the hair. After the spray had dried, I separated the hair into sections, took the heated wavers and waved each section of the hair.
3. When I was happy with the waviness of the hair, I took two sections from the side of each of her temples, and proceeded to plait each section one by one. Once each plait was done, I took hair grips and gripped the hair into place at the back of her head. (As you can see the the photo above.)
4. I wasn't satisfied with the hair, as you could see the hair grips in the back. I took the excess hair from each plait, wrapped it round three times, and gripped the hair into place, being careful to hide each hair grip.
5. I finished the look by taking my Got2be hairspray and lightly applied it around each section of the hair. And your done!
